The Application Server Database is used to store most of the data managed by the Application Server and nearly all of the configuration data needed by the Application Server. As the name implies the Application Server Database is solely accessed by the Application Server and not accessed directly from clients as the Smart Client.

The documentation in this part of the Reference Manual is therefore rather technical and mainly of interest for database system administrators.
