Each feature and each observation has an approval status that specifies how reliable or complete the data of this feature or observation is. Table 1 lists the approval status available. The initial status for newly created features and observations is always In progress.

Setting the         of a feature to Ready will automatically set the editing status of all observations  that are currently in status In progress to Ready. I.e. if a feature is in editing status ready the data of the feature including the observations is believed to be complete and correct.

Since setting the editing status of a feature to Ready modifies the feature and it's observations this operation needs the feature permissions Modify (1) and Modify observations (4) on the feature.

Setting the editing status of a feature to In progress will not change the editing status of the feature's observations. Therefore this operation needs only Modify (1) permission on the feature. The approval status of a feature or observation can only be set to In progress if there is no active approval workflow for that feature. I.e. if the current status is Ready.
