Before you begin implementing your backup strategy you need to understand what you are trying to protect, how much data you need to recover and also whether the data can be recreated easily or not.

To get started you need to ask yourself a few questions such as the following:

How much data can be accepted to get lost? A day, one hour, a week, none...?

Can the data managed by Redbex be easily recreated if there is a failure or it is not the only source of this data? (e.g. is data imported by external files, which are created by third party software?)

How long can you take the system offline for recovery?

Unfortunately there is nothing like a 'one size fits all' backup strategy, it really depends on your specific environment.

It would go far beyond the scope of this Reference Manual to describe pros and cons of different backup strategies, however following chapters provide information needed to set up a proper backup strategy for all data managed by the components of the Redbex system.
