There are several functionalities in Redbex that you usually want to configure for a set of features rather than for each feature separately. In Redbex there are two different concepts that are used to accomplish this: Feature Directives and Feature Configurations.
If a functionality is configured as a feature directive, different configurations of this functionality can apply to one feature at the same time. E.g. multiple observation plans can be configured for the same feature at the same time.
If a functionality is configured as a Feature Configuration only one configuration can exist for one feature at a feature. E.g. there can be only one default value for a property of an observation.
