Whenever we store data in a computer system we have to think about the structure in which the data is stored. This data structure then dictates what data can be stored and also how easy it is to evaluate the data once it has been recorded.

MappRover defines a basic data structure that consist of four elements

1.Workspaces: A workspace is a simple collection of construction parts and helps to organize construction parts into groups. It is also the smallest unit that can be synchronized.

2.Construction areas: A construction area is a representation of a real world construction area. It is defined by it's own axis reference system and mapping template

3.Mapping events: A spatial region on the mapping template of a construction part that was subject to the mapping at a specific point in time.

4.Mapping objects: An object mapped as part of a mapping event. A mapping object has a specific type that defines its attributes. Each mapping object has a geometrical shape.

Especially in geology and geotechnics the data that we document is very much depending on the location, contractual obligations, etc. A construction part in MappRover has therefore an underlying type. That type defines what attributes are available to describe the mapping event, which mapping object types are available and which attributes are available fore each of these mapping object types.
