When huge amounts of data are processed by the execution of a calculated feature, the application server will store intermediate calculation results to files on the Application Server's file system. These files are for internal use of the Application Server and do not need to be backed up. The directory where these temporary files are stored is configured in the configuration file.

The global setting Processing: Disk writing threshold setting defines how many observations will be handled in memory by each calculation before it begins to write temporary results to disk. Note that due to the fact that numerous calculated features can be executed in parallel and within each executed algorithm numerous calculations can be executed in parallel the total number of observations held in memory for processing can be much larger that this number. Also depending on the complexity of the observations type specific data the memory consumption can differ. Nevertheless, with some experience and sure instinct this setting can be used to tune memory consumption.
