Feature type privileges i.e. privileges that have a feature type as privilege object, define permissions users have on a specific feature type. The effective permissions a user has on a feature type cannot be inherited from another privilege object and cannot be transformed from another permission on another privilege object.

There are several indirect privilege objects that are referenced to specific feature types and to domains. The permission for accessing these objects is granted if the permission is granted on the feature type as well as on the domain. This allows you to assign permissions in a very flexible way.

Example: If you grant the permission to modify a classification that is used by a specific feature type this does not allow the privilege subject to modify any classification. Only if the same permission is also granted on a domain the privilege subject has the permission to modify classifications belonging to that feature type in that domain.

Table 1 lists the feature type permissions.

Permission

No

Description, Actual actions granted

Modify sensors (1)

1

Permission to create, modify and delete sensors that are of a sensor type which is linked to that feature type. To be allowed to actually create, modify or delete a sensor the user also needs modify sensors permission on the domain the sensor belongs to (or a parent domain)

Modify classifications (2)

2

Permission to create modify and delete classifications that are of a classification type which is used by that feature type. To be allowed to actually create, modify or delete a classification the user also needs modify classifications permission on the domain the classifications belongs to (or a parent domain).

Modify feature subtypes (3)

3

Permission to create modify and delete feature subtypes. To be allowed to actually create, modify or delete a feature subtype the user also needs modify feature subtypes permission on the domain the subtype belongs to (or a parent domain).

Modify feature settings (4)

4

Modify feature settings where the context is a feature setting with a context that reference this feature type. To be allowed to actually create, modify or delete a feature setting the user also needs modify feature settings permission on the domain the context references.

Modify sensor settings (5)

5

Modify sensor settings where  the context is a sensor of a type that is referenced to that feature type. To be allowed to actually create, modify or delete a sensor setting the user also needs modify sensor settings permission on the domain the context references.

Create features (6)

6

If granted the privilege subject can create features of this type.  To be allowed to actually create, features in a domain the user also needs the  on the domain the context references.

Manage feature and observation tags

7

If granted, the privilege subject can create and edit observation tags of the specified feature type

Read feature

8

If granted, the privilege subject can read features of the specified feature type

Modify features

9

If granted, the privilege subject can modify of the specified feature type

Read observations

11

If granted, the privilege subject can read observations of the specified feature type

Modify observations

12

If granted, the privilege subject can modify observations of the specified feature type
