Device support
MappRover is currently supporting iPad Pro 12.9" devices with iOS 10.2 or above. However MappRover but was designed in a way that it can be ported to other devices and other operating systems in future.
Basics for digital mapping
One of the main parts of the documentation process is the mapping i.e. sketching the shape of some real-world object on the user interface of MappRover.
When it comes to drawing or sketching with computer systems there are several different paradigms that can be used.
CAD-like construction: Drawing is constructed with high precision.
Pixel-based painting: Close to artistic painting.
Vector based drawing: like Adobe InDesign.
GIS-like drawing: GIS-like drawing uses a limited set of possible geometric shapes and enforces parameter-based (implicit) styling.
For several reasons MappRover uses the GIS-like approach
•No artistic painting support (shading, pressure-depended line thicknesses etc)
•No CAD-like precision, no construction tools - but tools for freehand sketching
•No explicit styling but implicit styling through attributes and styling rules
Single user device - multiuser concept
The tablet operating system is a single user operating system. Redbex however tries to enforce strict separation between users.
