Transferring classification elements

Scroll Prev Up Next More

The Application Server supports transferring (exporting and importing) classification elements. This is useful when working with multiple installations of Redbex (e.g. when using a test and a production environment).

The transfer will always work within the context of a domain and a set of classification types and will transfer elements for the used classifications of each of these classification type in this domain only. The set of classification types can either be all classification types in the system or all classification types used by a specific feature type.

Only elements of classifications where the user has read permission on the domain the classification belongs to will be exported. When importing only those classification elements will be imported that belong to classification types that can be edited by the executing user.

The transfer does not handle classifications themselves but only the classification elements within the used classifications, i.e. the export file does not have any information about the classification but is basically a list of classification elements that have a tag that identifies to which classification type they belong. This way the classification element transfer is independent of the specific structure of the domain tree and the names of classifications.

Export steps

For each classification type:

1.Get used classification of classification type in the context domain

2.Get elements of the used classification and write them in the export file

Import steps

For each classification type:

1.Get used classification of classification type in the context domain

2.Get all elements in the export file for the classification type

3.Write those elements to the used classification

The result of an export will be provided as output file. The Application Server writes an action log that includes details about the export and import process.
