Before a calculation algorithm is executed it is validated and part of this validation is that all of the calculations within that algorithm will validate themselves. Only if all calculations are valid the algorithm will execute. Note that the Application Server allows to store invalid calculation algorithms, and calculation algorithms can also get invalid as other data in the systems changes.

All calculations, regardless of their type will use following validation rules:

•All input pins are connected to either features or other calculations.

•All constraints on input pins are met (including type, multiplicity etc.)

•Input pins with multiplicity conform to the multiplicity boundaries.

•Configuration settings are valid (depending on the specific calculation type)
