A connection is a stored set of parameters that define how MappRover can access a Application Server.

In MappRover you can define any number of connections. However before login you decide with which connection you want to work by picking one of the defined connections as the active connection. MappRover will always only work with one connection at one time.

When creating a new connection in MappRover the device must have network access to that Application Server. Only if MappRover can verify the validity of the given connection parameters you will be able to store the connection.

In MappRover connections are defined independent of the user (since have to be defined before a user logs in). I.e. all created connections can be seen and modified by any tablet user.

When a connection is deleted the data that is locally stored for that connection will not be deleted immediately. Therefore if you recreate a connection with the same connection settings, the data for that connection will be available again.

Internally a connection is identified by a unique connection ID provided by the Application Server. You can only create one connection to one specific Application Server instance.
