There are different types of sources from which the Application Server can fetch the files to be processed in an import session. Table 1 summarizes these different source type.

This source type can be used to import from files from a user's file depot. This source type will not be persisted in stored import definitions, but is available for on-the-fly import definitions. |

This source type is used to import from files located on an FTP server . |
Application Server directory |
This source type is used to import from located in a directory of the Application Server. |
Databases |

Database |
Generic database source. Can be used only for import types that support reading data from another database. |
