Whenever the selector tool is enabled you can freely pan the map of a construction area using with pan-gestures. Zooming in or out can be done using the zoom buttons or using zoom-in or zoom-out gestures.

To see the full extents of a construction area (i.e. the whole mapping template and contents of all information layers) you can call the long-tap-menu and select Zoom extents there.
