There might be cases when you want to close an approval workflow that is still running. For example this might happen when a user who has obligation in some running approval workflow is not available any more or if during an approval workflow new data became available and shall be stored.

The Application Server allows users with the feature permission Manage approval workflows (9) to abort a running workflow. The workflow is then set to status Aborted. Aborting an approval workflow will automatically also make this workflow obsolete,
