This vector layer type is used to visualize axes and optionally axis reference systems on a map view. Axes are shown as poly-lines. One layer draws exactly one axis. You cannot connect any features to this layer.
Setting |
Description |
Defines zoom extent |
If selected the contents of this layer and all other layers with this flag set will be used to calculate the boundary for zoom extents. |
Hide contents |
If selected the layer's contents will not be shown. However the layer's contents can still be used to define zoom extents. |
Opacity |
Defines the opacity of the elements shown on this layer |
Hide in legend |
If set, the layer and its elements will not be shown in the map legend |
Table 1: General settings for the layer type Axis
Setting |
Description |
Label visible from |
Defines the lower boundary of the zoom level from which label of this layer will be shown. Value must be between 1 and 20 where 1 means zoomed out to world extent and 20 means zoomed in to the maximum. |
Label visible from |
Option only available if Label visible from option is set Defines the upper boundary of the zoom level to which label of this layer will be shown. Value must be between 1 and 20 where 1 means zoomed out to world extent and 20 means zoomed in to the maximum. |
Table 2: Visibility settings for the layer type Axis
Setting |
Description |
Show axis |
If set the actual geometry of the axis (a poly-line with all axis points a nodes) will be shown on the map view. |
Mark axis start |
If set the start of the axis will be marked with the symbol defined in the Appearance settings. Use this if you want to visualize the axis direction. |
Simplification tolerance
|
The simplification tolerance that shall be applied to the axis before drawing (using the Douglas Peucker simplification algorithm). A higher value usually results in faster but less accurate visualization of the axis. The unit of this value is the unit of measurement in the projected coordinate system on which the axis definition is based. |
Axis label |
Defines how the axis shall be labeled. Available options are •None: The axis will not have a label •Axis name: The name of the axis will be shown. The label will be placed near the middle of the axis. •Text template: The axis will be labeled according to the provided text template |
Axis label template |
The text template to be used |
Show axis reference system |
If set the starting point an the direction of selected axis reference systems will be shown. |
Reference system label |
Defines if and how shown reference systems are labeled |
Reference system label template |
If reference system label is set to Text template this setting defines the used text template. |
Show mapping template |
If set the mapping template for the selected axis reference systems will be shown. |
Show information layers |
If set the information layers for axis mapping templates will also be shown. |
Show chainage |
If set chainage labels will be placed along the axis in regular intervals. |
Chainage interval |
The interval between 2 displayed chainage points (measured along the 3D axis) |
Axis reference system 1-10 |
Defines the selected axis reference systems. |

Setting |
Description |
Label size |
Defines the size of the label in pixels. |
Label color |
Defines the color of the axis label color |
Foreground color |
Defines the foreground color for the axis, i.e. the color in which the axis will be drawn. |
Background color |
|
Line style |
Defines the line style that is used for drawing the axis |
Line Thickness |
Defines the line thickness that is used for drawing the axis |
Point symbol for axis |
The point symbol used to |
Point size |
SIze to use for symbols. Given in pixels. |
