Changing the definition of an axis reference system can be done but you should be aware of the consequences.

When changing an axis reference system meaning of all spatial data stored with features (and their observations) that reference that axis reference system will change.  I.e. the spatial information will not be modified and the therefore the real world position of stored spatial data will change.
