The application server provides several presentation types that are subsumed under the term charting. Charting allows the graphical display of observation data in different ways. Charting is useful for picturing data in ways that allow for quick examination and nice presentation of data, on screen as well as in printed form.

A common characteristic of charts is that they are not drawn in scale, i.e. if you generate a chart and print it on paper there is no control on how many millimeters one unit is in the printout.
