Definition of the projection

Scroll Prev Up Next More

To be able to transform spatial data to or from a projected system the Application Server must know how details about the projection. There are dozens of different projections that can be used and each of these projections can be configured with several parameters.

For transformations Redbex relies on the widely used proj4 projection library. Therefore the projection details that you have to define with a projected system have to be given as a proj4 configuration string. Documentation on these configuration strings can be found in the proj4 documentation. Please visit the proj4 homepage at http://proj.osgeo.org for more details.

There are several online resources that list the proj4 configuration strings for different projected coordinate systems. E.g. http://www.spatialreference.org/.

The projections supported by Redbex are listed in Table1.
