Show/Hide Toolbars

When you start the MappRover you will first need to log-in. For this you have to select a connection and provide username and password. Username and password will be validated against the Redbex Application Server defined with the selected connection.

When logging in with a username that has not logged in before the device has to have a network connection to the Redbex Application Server. After a user has successfully logged in the password (i.e. a hash of the password) will be cached locally so that future log-in attempts with the same user name can be validated without a network connection.

The MappRover is designed to support device sharing, i.e. it supports a scenario where multiple users share a single tablet device. Therefore username and password have to be provided on each start of the application.

Selecting the connection

The current connection is shown on top of the login dialogue if you want to change the active connection select Change connection link on the login screen to open the connection management page where you can define the current connection by tapping on it. You will then be taken back to the login screen.

For more information on managing connections see chapter Connection management.

Note: If no connection is defined yet (or if all connections in the connection management were deleted) the login page will not show the input fields for username and password, but will just show a hint that before login you have to create and select a connection.

Selecting a recently logged in user

To limit the amount of typing you have to do on the login page MappRover remembers the names of the users that have once logged in to the application. When setting focus on the username text field the a picker with a list of recently logged in users will appear and you can quickly pick one of these.

Logging in

After username and password have been entered you can log in by either selecting the login button or by hitting the enter key on the virtual keyboard.

Note: MappRover intentionally provides no way for storing a user's password
