After starting the Application Server Database Update the Update Program checks some launch conditions such as the version of the operating system, the available memory and others. If one of these launch conditions is not met the Update Program will show an appropriate message and will exit immediately.

Note that these launch conditions are checked for the computer on which the Update Program is executed which is not necessarily the same computer on which the database to be updated is hosted.

After that the Update Program will automatically install some software prerequisites that are needed to run the Update Program. The Installation of the software prerequisites may take several minutes to complete. After all prerequisites have been installed the Update Program will start the Update Assistant that guides you through the steps of updating an Application Server Database
