This section describes how you use the Application Server Database Update Program that will update the Application Server Database to a later version. The Update Program for the latest version of the Application Server Database can be downloaded from http://download.redbex.com.

The Application Server Database Update Program must not necessarily be run on the Database Server itself but can be run on any computer that can access the database server. To run the Application Server Database Update Program, membership in the local Windows Administrators group, or equivalent, might be required on the machine where the Update Program executed.

While running the setup program you will have to specify the credentials used to connect to the database you want to update. These credentials must have appropriate SQL-Server permissions to modify the Application Server Database to be updated.

The Version of the Update Program also specifies the latest version of the Application Server Database this program can update to, i.e. the program can update all Databases with a version number lower than the version of the Update Program and will update these databases to the same version as the Update Program.

The Update Program will update the database version by version. E.g. if the Update Program is of version 1.9.3.0 and your current database version is 1.7.1.3 the Update Program might need to perform an update from 1.7.1.3 to 1.7.1.5 then to 1.8.0.0 then to 1.8.5.1 and finally to 1.9.3.0. This also means that the update program can be applied to every version of the Application Server Database and will automatically determine the steps necessary to update it to the latest version.
