The Application Server provides several different possibilities to define when the execution of a calculated feature shall be triggered. No matter how the execution of a calculated feature is triggered the execution itself is always performed as a job on the Application Server. The actual start time for a execution of a calculated feature is therefore also depending on the job system.
Execution on users request
For each calculated feature a user can trigger an execution manually. When the calculated feature is currently calculated manually triggering execution will not work. Triggering the execution of a calculated feature requires the permission Modify observations (4) on that calculated feature.
Execution on custom schedule
To automatically (and repeatedly) execute calculated features the Application Server provides the job type Calculated feature execution. This job type allows you to trigger the execution of a single calculated feature or of all calculated features that are member of a specified view or of all calculated features that are member of the specified domain.
Execution triggered from observation monitoring
A calculated feature can also be executed by an observation monitoring action.
