An alias scheme is a set of aliases for features, aliases within an alias scheme must be unique and one feature can only have one alias name in an alias scheme. You can think of the alias scheme as the circumstances in which a set of features have an alias, an alias scheme could therefore for example be named Old name, Local name etc.

Alias schemes are associated with domains. You can create any number of alias schemes in a domain. Alias schemes are propagated downwards in the domain tree.

For creating, modifying and deleting an alias scheme the user must have the domain permission Manage alias schemes (7) permission on the domain the alias scheme is associated with. To display an alias scheme and its aliases the domain permission Read (0).

Deleting an alias scheme will also remove all aliases associated with that scheme.
