A comment is textual information a user adds to a feature or an observation. Each feature and observation can have any number of comments created by different users. Comments are automatically stored with a timestamp when they were created and with a link to the user who created them.

It is not possible to create a comment for another user. Comments cannot be modified, i.e. the comment text, the creation date and the creating user cannot be changed.

A comment can have a maximum length of 4000 characters and is stored as unformatted text.

Comments can only be deleted by users who have the feature permission Manage (7) on the feature they belong to (either directly or through observations). This rule applies to comments created by other users as well as self created comments.
