In order to facilitate the input a new observation can from the copy of an existing observation.
In this case the new observation will be a nearly exact (limitations see below) copy of the original observation. This includes, base data, type specific data, sensor configuration and spatial data of the observation.
The identification data of the newly created observation is of course changed. The sampling timestamp is set to the date and time of the creation and the observation Id (once the observation is saved) will be the If assigned by the Application Server.
Property values of properties of type binary and referenced image will not be copied to the new feature. Also Comments and Attachments of the original observation will not be copied.
To create an observation from existing, follow these steps:
•Select an observation on the observation tab in feature editor. This can be either an existing or a newly created observation. If multiple observations are selected, copy is created from the one that was selected first.
•Click "Create observation from existing" button in the toolbar. New observation will be created and added to the new observations pane
The copy is generated based on the current data of the original observation, i.e. changes to the original observation that are not yet saved to the Application Server will still be copied to the new observation.
