Sensor types are the basic templates that define which data can be recorded for a sensor of that type and which sensor specific data can be stored for observations done by sensor of that type.

Sensors are always of a specific sensor type. A sensor of a specific type can only observe features of specific feature types. Which sensor type can be used with what feature type is defined by Pöyry Infra GmbH and cannot be changed by the user.

The sensor type defines property structures for type specific sensor data, chronological sensor configuration and observation sensor configuration.

Sensor types are modular. i.e. new sensor types can be installed easily when published by Pöyry Infra GmbH. Sensor types are deployed via the Distribution Server.
