Below you find a summary of what changes the Setup Program makes to your system and to your database server. The information below is meant for the technically inclined user. The summary is  not  necessarily a complete listing of all performed changes.

During Preparation the Setup Program checks if .NET framework 4.5 is installed on the system on which the Setup Program is executed. The Setup Program needs this framework internally and will install it automatically if it is not found. The .NET 4.5 framework is not needed on the database server. If the installation fails after installing the prerequisites the already installed prerequisites will not be removed.

During the installation the Setup Program will connect to the database server you specified in and will create a database with the defined name.

The Setup Program will choose the server default values for Collation, Recovery model, and Compatibility level for the newly created database. For the folder for database files the Setup Program chooses %SQLDATABASEPATH%, for the log folder the Setup Program chooses %SQLLOGPATH%.

The initial database size is set to 100MB. You can use the Microsoft SQL Server Manager or any other database server management software if you need to change these or other properties of the database to suit your local conditions, however be extremely careful when doing so and always make a backup before you apply any changes!

After that the Setup Program will create the database schema for the Redbex Application Server Database. This includes tables, views, stored procedures UDDTs and other SQL server objects.

After successful creation of the database schema the Setup Program will create some basic data within the newly created database. This basic data is needed by the Application Server to operate and includes data for the manager user.

The Setup Program will then create a Database login and a database user according to the settings you specified in step 5 of the Setup Assistant.
