Table 1 gives an overview of the changes made to your system during the actual installation of the Application Server software. Note that the list of change presented in table one is not complete and only lists changes that might be important to administrators.

Copying of program files |
Program files are copied to the specified installation location. |
Creation of working directories |
Working directories as configured in Step 7: Folders are created. Permissions for the Windows user running the Application Server Service are set. |
Service user |
If advised in Step 5: Windows Service user the Setup will create a local windows user that is used to run the Redbex Application Server windows service. Service users group membership for Event Log Readers and Performance Monitor Users is set System permissions to logon as service is set. Service user is granted the right to logon as a service and to use the specified (possibly privileged) TCP ports. |
Certificate |
If advised in Step 7: Web service configuration the self signed Certificate is created and installed. Permissions to read the certificates private key are granted to the Windows User running the Service. |
Privileged Ports |
If the setup is advised to create a Windows user to run the Application Server service, this user is given the permission to bind to the specified (possibly privileged) TCP ports for network communication. |
Windows Service |
A Windows Service for the Application Server is created. Its Startup mode is set to Automatic. If the SQL Database server is detected to be running on the same computer the Setup will create a service dependency, so that the Application Server Service only start after the Database Engine is started. |
Instance configuration file |
The primary Instance Configuration file is created and stored in the directory of the program files. |
Event log source |
A new event log source for the Windows Event Log is registered, See Windows Event Log for more details. |
Performance counters |
The Application Server installation will register several Performance Counters within Window's Performance Monitor framework (perfmon.exe) |
Firewall rules |
If you advised the Setup Program to create firewall rules for the Application Server there will be one new Windows Firewall rule for every protocol enabled. |
Fonts |
Redbex Fonts files are installed and registered with Windows. |
